FAR WEST (2018)

FAR WEST ©Alain Scherer

FAR WEST is a journey, a trip set between a past voluntarily left behind and an uncertain future impossible to fathom.

In an indefinite time, in an undefined and limitless space that is only oriented by the movement towards a faraway horizon, eight men and women form a caravan by coincidence, lives gathered in the flow of an existence conjugated in the present, without hope neither nostalgia. They move forward, one step after another, carry and transport bodies or objects, use a stick to lean or hit, build a shelter with some pieces of wood. They live in very old times, perhaps also those to come. Persistent, prosaic or eternal gestures, what humanity do these gestures create?

Traveling to a far-off west, Magali Milian and Romuald Luydlin, fifteen years of creation with their company La Zampa, set out to accomplish and dig a few movements to their first and primary intentions, which then seem to unfold on themselves. In this physical and internal research, the body becomes the measure of everything, time is built without project.

With some faithful friends, musicians, dancers and actors, La Zampa undertakes with Far West a terrifying but always desirable adventure. And continues its progress on the path of a scene that places the truth of commitment at the forefront of its experiments and requirements.
